Hello!

Laura Martinez-Parker is an illustrator and artist who creates stories featuring diverse children and playful animals in whimsical natural settings.

She is a military wife of over 16 years and has lived in various places across the U.S. and South Korea. She currently resides in Kentucky with her husband, four neurodivergent children, two dogs, two cats, a snake, and a bearded dragon.

The places she has lived have influenced the landscapes in her illustrations, and her children and pets inspire the fun stories she enjoys sharing.

Laura uses gouache, colored pencils, and digital techniques to create her illustrations, hoping to capture the magic and whimsy she finds in nature around her.

When she’s not reading, painting, or caring for her family, she enjoys visiting her local library, experimenting with new hobbies and crafts, and trying to keep her houseplants alive.

Laura graduated from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration, concentrating in children’s books.
